Frequently Asked Questions

Services

What services do you offer?

We offer tax return preparation services for both individuals (Form 1040) and entities (Forms 1041, 1065, and 1120). We also offer tax planning services to help our clients manage their tax burden and financial goals.

How much do your services cost?

Tax return preparation costs are based on the complexity of the return and which forms are required. Individual tax returns start at a minimum of $350. Entity tax returns start at a minimum of $750. We will provide an estimate for the cost of your return after free initial consultation.

All tax returns are subject to a $100 non-refundable deposit due at signing of engagement letter. Remainder of balance for the return is due when the return is delivered.

Tax planning and research services are billed at $90 per 30 minutes.

Do you provide bookkeeping/accounting services?

We will perform any bookkeeping necessary to complete your tax return based on the information provided. This is not included in the preparation cost of your return, and will be billed separately. We will notify you if this applies to you, and provide an estimate for the bookkeeping services necessary to complete your return.

We do not offer any non tax return related bookkeeping/accounting services at this time.

How do you communicate with clients?

We primarily communicate with clients through e-mail and the secure messenger in our client portal. We strongly believe that these provide the most convenient method for our clients to engage with our services. We also offer voice or video calls for clients who prefer those options as well. Appointment times are available on weeknights and Saturdays. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a voice or video call.

Tax Returns

How long will my return take to complete?

We aim to finish most returns within three weeks once all pre-requisites are completed (organizer completed, documents uploaded, engagement letter signed, and deposit paid). This timeline may shift based on client demand or changing guidance from the IRS regarding the treatment of certain tax items. We will communicate with you if this timeline needs to be adjusted.

How do I upload my documents?

Documents can be uploaded in the client portal. Digital documents may be uploaded directly in their native format. Physical documents must be digitized in order to upload them to the portal. You may either scan documents into PDF format, or you can use our client portal app to upload documents using your phone. Please ensure all digitized documents are clearly legible.

What documents do I need?

Please upload all official tax documents you have received from your various sources. If you are unable to retrieve official documents, an IRS transcript can be substituted where necessary. We also require a copy of your prior year's tax return (if we did not prepare it).

If you have a business or a rental, please provide information for your total income and expenses for the year. Expenses should be separated into categories and totaled for the year.

When do I have to have my documents uploaded by?

Work cannot begin on your tax return until all your documents have been uploaded. To ensure we are able to complete returns by relevant filing deadlines, we encourage all clients to upload their documents as soon as they are available. Returns that are still missing documents less than four weeks from a filing deadline may not be completed before the deadline.

How will my return be delivered?

When your return is complete, we will deliver your return to you electronically through our client portal. This will include the client copy of your return, your custom video reviewing the return with you, and all documents that require your e-signature. All client documents will also be accessible to you through the client portal.

How do I sign my return?

You may electronically sign your return directly in our client portal. Due to IRS requirements, all electronic signatures for tax returns must use Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA) signatures. KBA signatures will require you to verify your identity by choosing the correct answer to a series of questions about you. If you do not wish to use electronic KBA signatures, you may print, sign, and upload the signed copy of your documents to the client portal.
